Monday night, June 19, the Kennedale City Council approved appointments to the city?s Youth Advisory Board (YAC). {{more: Read More …}}
Members are appointed annually and must be between the ages of 15-19, attend school (public, private or home-schooled) and live or attend school in Kennedale (includes KISD boundaries).Members serve for one year but students may apply for reappointment each year until they graduate. There are 15 positions available on the youth council and all are selected from submitted applications.Leslie Galloway, Kennedale City Secretary & Communications Coordinator, was excited about the new YAC because this was the full council in recent years.
2017-18 Kennedale Youth Advisory Council ?
There were six members who reapplied and were reappointed
- Andrew Flanagan, KHS Senior;
- Claudia Vilchez, KHS Senior;
- Luke Michener, KHS Senior;
- Haley Smith, KHS Senior;
- Tiffany Pavey, KHS Senior;
- Leland Murphy, KHS Junior
New to the council are
- Riya Patel, Fort Worth Country Day Sophomore;
- Dan Nguyen, KHS Senior;
- Christianah Adejokun, Uplift Summit International Preparatory Junior;
- Quincy Martin, KHS Sophomore;
- Hannah Stephens, KHS Junior;
- Kayla Guevara, KHS Sophomore;
- Elvon Bowman, KHS Junior;
- McKendry Walsh, KHS Junior;
- Allen Constantino, KHS Sophomore.
The Council also publicly thanked the departing members who have graduated or have other commitments. These were
- Sydney Michener,
- Katie Randolph,
- Lexi Neifert,
- Carson Ham,
- Kendall Barnes
- Leanne Blind.
Ham served as chair, Lexi Neifert as vice chair and Randolph as secretary. The new YAC will chose their own officers.
The stated purpose of the council is to provide a youth perspective to the City Council on a variety of community and youth related issues.
