County Commissioner host Taste of Asia Charity Luncheon next week

Tarrant County Precinct 2 Commissioner Andy Nguyen will host his annual charity ?Taste of Asia? outdoor picnic (weather permitting), Friday, November 6 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. It will be held at the Southeast Maintenance Center, 1203 E. Kennedale Parkway in Kennedale.

Now in its fifth year, the Taste of Asia event offers a chance to network and visit with friends, business associates and elected officials from the local, county and state levels.

Nguyen will grill his specially marinated Korean barbecue. The commissioner?s wife, Julie Vu, will prepare her special recipe for salad dressing, and Paris Bakery will have yummy strawberry shortcake for toppers.
 
Enjoy live music by Mansfield acoustic duo Scott and Steve (Scott Welmaker is Mansfield?s economic development director by day and musician at other times). And a special treat will be free massages courtesy of Kennedale/Mansfield Chiropractic.
 
?As a Salvation Army advisory council member, I?ve been moved many times by the stories of those needing help. I am extremely proud of the support these families and individuals receive from the Salvation Army,? said Nguyen. ?It is my honor to host this event and give The Salvation Army the proceeds so they can continue providing a hand up to those most in need in our community.?

The cost is $8.00 for the meal. A number of door prizes will be awarded that include restaurant and retail gift cards, Six Flags tickets and season passes, an electric ice cream maker, a fully stocked wine rack and a Dallas Cowboys cookbook. Tickets for door prize drawings ($2 each or three/$5) can be purchased the door.
 
Nguyen?s community outreach coordinator, Mary Gilman, said the goal is to raise $6,000 for The Salvation Army. If you cannot attend but want to donate, go to www.salvationarmyyet.org and mention Taste of Asia in the tribute area.
