The Kennedale Independent School District has announced that the school calendar for the current year has been shortened by four days. {{more: Find out more …}}
The original calendar ended school for the students on Friday, June 2 with a Memorial Day holiday set for Monday, May 29. The new ending date is Friday May 26. The KISD school board approved the change last night in regular session.The change affects teaching days for the teachers but does not change their contract days which end on June 7. It does not change the high school graduation day ceremonies.The following is from a letter sent out to parents/guardians explaining the change.
“The KISD Board of Trustees met on 4/21/17 and made a motion to approve an amendment to the 2016-2017 district yearly calendar. The amendment made the last day of the spring semester Friday, May 26, 2017.
The original adopted 2016-2017 district yearly calendar was created with an overage of instructional minutes built in with the intent of providing a way to avoid the necessity of using ?inclement weather days? in the event inclement weather occurred. This year, we did not experience inclement weather. The amended calendar allocates the overage of minutes to the end of the 2016-2017 district calendar year allowing for students to be released before the Memorial Day Holiday. This will be aligned with our adopted 2017-2018 district yearly calendar.
Campuses will release information to parents/guardians should any dates and/or times of end of year events, performances, etc. change. It is the district?s goal to provide every family with the best experience possible and we hope this calendar change will help to achieve that goal. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.
