Early predictions have Kennedale Wildcats in top 10

The football prognosticators are beginning to forecast the 2016 high school football season and Kennedale is in the top ten in both Friday Night Football (FNF) and Dave Campbell?s Texas Football. Both popular sports magazines are on newsstands now. {{more:[read more]}}

 

For FNF, the top ten in Class 4A Division I are No. 1 Argyle, No. 2 Waco La Vega, No. 3 Wylie, No. 4 Kennedale, No. 5 China Spring, No. 6 Brownwood, No. 7 Carthage, No. 8 Texarkana Liberty-Eylau, No. 9 Liberty Hill and No. 10 Mineral Wells.

Campbell?s Texas Football has the top ten as #1 Argyle, #2 Navasota, #3 Carthage, #4 Liberty-Eylua, #5 Abilene Wylie, #6 Waco La Vega, #7 Liberty Hill, #8 Kennedale, #9 China Springs and #10 Terrell.
 
Preseason district favorites …
 

In district play, Kennedale is picked to win District 5-4A followed by Mineral Wells, Springtown, Lake Worth, Castleberry and Diamond Hill-Jarvis in both magazines. Mineral Wells, who had an exceptional year last year, finishing 10-3, and is in the top twenty this year in both early polls, is expected to challenge Kennedale?s four year run of undefeated district championships.

OL Andrew

Flanagan (Jr) on the 2016 All-State list

Campbell has picked LB Baron Browning (Sr) and OL Andrew Flanagan (Jr), both from Kennedale, as preseason All-State players. Calling Browning one of the best defenders in the nation, gives his team a chance to reach the title game.
 

FNF has Browning (Sr) listed as All 4A Team player but joined this time by DL Gjemar Daniels (Sr). The magazine also list DB Ector Rivera (Jr) as a ?player to watch? in the Top Upperclassmen for 2018. Browning is also listed as 1st team ?Best of the Best? Team Texas Linebacker. He come in #4 in the state among all players in the Top 100 Seniors.

In 2015, Kennedale finished 12-1 and for the second year in a row went undefeated in regular season play, a new school record.
 
Kennedale lost in the 4A Region II semi-finals last year to Argyle who eventually lost to Waco La Vega in the 4A state championship game.
 
Kennedale’s season will begin August 18 with a scrimmage against 4A State Champion Waco La Vega at La Vega. The first regular season game will be September 2 at home against Terrell.
