The 7-4A District champs, Kennedale Wildcats, captured the District MVP, Newcomer of Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year superlative awards along with 7 team honors {{more:READ MORE …}}
 
The Cats swept through district play losing only one game and capturing Kennedale?s first district title in four years at 11-1. And, they did with some talented players. Eleven Wildcats were selected for all-district along with the coaches who earned the nod for Coaching Staff of the Year.

The 2017 team played

some ball this year. As a team, the Cats had a .386 average at the plate with an

on-base percentage of .505 while averaging over 10 runs per game during

district play. The three man pitching

team for the Cats had an 1.213 ERA, earning 100 strikeouts while allowing an average of just

1.75 runs on 3.4 hits in district games. The Wildcats were not slackers on

defense either with a .966 fielding percentage.

The good news for next year is that nine of the eleven return.

Bryce Hackett (Jr) District MVP (in district play had an .333 ERA, allowing only 1 run on 7 hits with 36 strikeouts; a fielding % of .964, 17 assist with 10 putouts; batting average of .382, slugging % .676, scored 12 runs, 13RBI?s and 2 homeruns).
 
 
J.D. Padgett (Fr) Newcomer of the Year (in district play led the team with a .514 batting average, an on-base % of .633, a slugging % of .771 and stolen bases with 6, rang up 14 RBIs and 14 runs).
 
Aaron Herrera (Jr) Defensive Player of the Year (A fielding percentage of 1.000 along with a batting average of .361, slugging % of .556, recording 7 RBIs, 5 stolen bases and led the team with 16 runs).
 
 
Jared Taylor (Jr) Pitcher of the Year (in district play, pitched 5 games, won 5, allowing 7 hits and 3 runs, striking out 26 with a .851 ERA; batted .400 with a .650 slugging percentage along with 10 RBIs).
 
Brayden Sewell (Sr) 1st Team Pitcher (in district play pitched 5 games, won 3, striking out 36 with a 1.556 ERA.)
 

 
Reed Sanez (Jr) 1st Team First Base (recorded 64 putouts with one error, 2 double plays and a 0.985 fielding percentage; in batting had 12 runs, 12 RBIs with a batting % of.357 and a slugging % of .429).
 
Cole Carruthers (Sr) 1st Team Second Base (recorded 12 putouts, 20 assists, 2 double plays and a .985 fielding %; in hitting led the team in RBIs with 15 and total hits with 19, scored 13 runs with a .487 batting average and a .590 slugging percentage).
 

 
Ethan Wood (Jr) 2nd Team Third Base (fielding % of .833, 12 assists with 3 putouts; batted .378 with a slugging % of .514, scored 12 runs with 8 RBIs).
 
Austin Crabtree (Jr) 1st Team Outfield (4 putouts, no errors, batting average .500, slugging % .692 with 8 runs scored and 9 RBIs).
 
 
Brandon Jones (Jr) 2nd Team Designated Hitter (for the year, .345 batting average, .455 slugging %; in district play, 8 runs, 5 RBIs with 11 walks).
 
Luke Michener (Jr) Honorable Mention (catcher – 8 assist, 87 putouts, no error)
