In the annual North Texas All-Star Football Classic, featuring some of the best from around the area, five senior from Kennedale High School played their last game together. The five were Trei Pitre, Devin Jackson, Dashawn Drummond, Taylor Smith and Sterling Dickens. The game was played June 15 at Pennington Stadium.This was the third year for the Classic and it featured all-district players from around the Metroplex. ?{{more}}The five Wildcats were part of the 2012 Kennedale team that finished 9-3 and as a Division I Area Finalist, losing to eventual state champions, the Stephenville Yellowjackets.
?We wanted to create this game in our area because we wanted to prove that these kids can shine outside their districts,? executive director Rusty Bentley said. ?Our ultimate goal is to get some of these kids playing college ball.??The East squad, under the direction of coach Josh Ragsdale and his staff from Dallas Adamson, built a 21-0 first half lead and cruised to a 21-8 victory. It was the first win for the East in the series.?The West squad was guided by Boswell?s John Abendschan and his staff. The West?s lone score came late on a 60-yard pass from Whitney?s Chad Huntley to Itasca?s Cole Coleman.
