In an earlier tweet he announced his plans, saying,

Flanagan is the most honored football player to come out of Kennedale High School. He was a 4 year letterman and starter for the Wildcats. He made not only made the all-district teams all four year, he earned all-state team honors for each of those years plus the all-state academic team his senior season.?
A list of some of his honors: AP All-State 1st Team 2017, Texas Sports Writers All State 1st Team, AP All-State HM 2016, 3rd team All-State Sports Writers 2016, 1st team all-district 2017, MVP offensive line 2016, Offensive Line MVP 2015, Offensive Newcomer of the Year 2014.?
