All-State Academic Team …
It has been announced that Alex Groff and Chris Saulsby have made the TABC All-State 4A Team for their work in the classroom and on the court. Student athletes must be seniors, have lettered in their sport and have a 92 or better GPA over the past 7 semester of high school.
Groff, who was named to the 7-4A All-District team this year, finished in the top five of all student athletes nominated in Class 4A with 102.0 GPA. Saulsby, named First Team All-District Player for District 7-4A, had a 94.0 GPA.
All-Region Team …
Trey Jones, 6?4? sophomore forward who seemed to have played all positions equally well this past year, was named to the TABC All-Region Team for Class 4A Region I. He joined just 19 other region players so honored.
Jones lead the team in scoring, averaging 15.4 points per game. He also average 11.8 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game, He was the 2017 District MVP for District 7-4A.
Student Assistant of the Year …
Also getting state recognition was Tristan Rush as one of just 11 students in the Class 4A named as Student Assistant of the Year.
KHS Assistant Coach Matt Munson said in nominating Rush for the state honor that, ?Tristan has left an indelible mark on our program. He was in charge of training and scheduling our managers. He took inventory of our equipment, ran the clock, kept the book, filmed games and was always in the gym. ? and [he] never missed a game our varsity played the last 3 years.? Munson added that, ?Tristan has earned the respect of the players and the coaching staff.?
