Dunbar, who has a nine game regular season this year, is 1-1 in district play with a 35-6 win over Diamond Hill-Jarvis and a down to the wire loss to FTW Benbrook 29-28. Benbrook (5-1), who was behind in the game until the very end, escaped a real scare to stay tied with Kennedale for first in District 6-4A with a 3-0 district record.
?
Earlier in non-district play, the Dunbar Fighting Wildcats lost to Dallas Kimball 28-26, defeated FTW Eastern Hills 14-6 and lost to Celina 49-27. 5A Dallas Kimball is currently 5-1. 5A Eastern Hills is 2-5. 4A Celina is 4-2.

Head Coach is Todd Lawson, who is in his 15th year at Dunbar, has had some good football teams for this basketball oriented high school. His best was in 2013 when the Wildcats went 10-1.?
Dunbar is coming off a 3-7 season and has only 8 starters returning from last season. However, the Kennedale coaching staff describes them as very athletic and dangerous. They are young but they can score quickly and put up some big numbers on the scoreboard.
?
For Kennedale, it is again going to depend on the play of the defense who in the last three weeks have been able to slice through their opponent?s offense line to stop plays before they could develop. Dunbar does like to pass. Dunbar?s quarterback Leon?te Cooper is a dual threat as a runner and a passer but he has some capable receivers including Jeremiah Hayes, Aaron Cooper and Julius Tolbert. Aaron Cooper also doubles at running back along with Savyon Barrett.?
It looks to be another wet game night which should favor the run oriented offense of the Kennedale Wildcats, but both teams will be playing an unfamiliar foe. Next to Benbrook, this could be the toughest challenge for Kennedale in trying to claim another district title.
