The topic tonight is ?Civil Rights? with quest lecturer Brian Johnson. Johnson is an Assistant Professor of Government and History and Chair of Social Science Department at Tarrant County College South Campus; and also teaches part-time at Dallas County Community College. He holds a bachelor?s in political science and a master?s in international relations from the University of Central Oklahoma. He is currently serving as mayor for the City of Kennedale.

It’s sure to be an interesting lecture and there will light refreshments. The Kennedale Community Center is located at 316 West 3rd Street in Kennedale and behind the Kennedale TownCenter.

The Kennedale Historical Society was founded in 2011 by a group of community members who were enthusiastic about preserving Kennedale?s history. It was formally incorporated in 2012. The purpose is to: discover, collect, and preserve material, sites, and structures pertaining to the history of Kennedale; to support study and research of the history of Kennedale; to encourage awareness and understanding of Kennedale?s history through educational programs; and to encourage the preservation of historical material and sites through research and outreach.
