Ladies 3-0 in district after Springtown win …

Tuesday night, the Kennedale Lady Kats, defending district co-champs, made a statement to the rest of the district when the Kats beat the favored Springtown Lady Pojos 3-1 at Kennedale High School. {{more: continue …}}

Springtown came into this match with a 12-7 overall record and a 2-0 district mark. The Lady Pojos were ranked at #12 in state 4A volleyball by TGCA. Springtown, who was district co-champs with Kennedale last year, was considered the top challenger for the district title.

Even after the loss to Kennedale, the Lady Pojos remain the team to beat in the district. However, Kennedale has just added their own name to that very short list of teams to beat. While Kennedale sports a 9-22 overall record, it is now spotless in district play.

It is still too early in the season to make predictions with certainty. District 7-4A plays a home and away series with each team. This means Kennedale will be playing on Springtown?s home court when they meet again October 3rd.

The Lady Kats visit Castleberry (7-12, 2-0) Friday, September 22 to play with the varsity game set for 4:30 p.m.

This was a game between two good teams. Kennedale may have had the worst record of the two, but, this team has been honing it’s skills in games with bigger and stronger opponents from the first days of the season when they begin by scrimmaging two 5A teams, Mansfield Legacy and Burleson.

The match itself was never a sure thing. Kennedale opened with a win in the first set 25-22. The second set went extra play and was taken by Springtown 27-25. Kennedale came back to take the third set by a comfortable 25-16 score. Needing to win by two, the match went an extra game with the Kats coming away a 25-21 win.
