The Mayor?s Summer Reading Program is an 8 week program for both adults and children that is designed to keep kids? skills sharp over the summer break while providing opportunity for family time and encouraging a love of reading for all ages.
Have you read a book recently ?
When is the last time that you have read a book? Show your kids that adult read too. (It is rumored that former Kennedale Mayor Robert Mundy has read every book in the Kennedale Library three times). Well, it is a true statement that he loves to read and that if you have been to the library often you will have crossed paths with him on more than one occasion.
Summer reading club activities for the summer of 2017 include the Kick-Off Party on Saturday; a visit by Ronald McDonald on Wednesday, June 7 at 10:30 a.m.; Mad Scientists Saturday on June 17 at 2 p.m.; Read Across Texas, a book discussion and film screening for Billy Lynn?s Long Halftime Walk on Saturday July 1 at 2 p.m. (Adults); and the Mayor?s Summer Reading Finale and Recognition party on Saturday, July 29 at 2 p.m.
Take the challenge and see how many books that you and your kids (grandkids) can tackle this summer.
P.S. The Kennedale Library does offer family movie matinees on selected Saturday?s during the months of June and July and it is all free.
P.P.S. The Kennedale Library card is also good at all Arlington and Mansfield libraries, offering you a world of books at your fingertips.Find out more at Kennedale City Library
