The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced their annual team academic awards, noting that there were 757 teams from university, college and high school levels. The team as a whole had to maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
Known Texas high schools (high schools were not listed by state) that also won the award included Bryan, Canyon, Copperas Cove, Cy-Falls, Cypress Ranch, Cypress Woods, Fredericksburg, Georgetown, Granbury, Kennedale, Maypearl, New Braunfels, Richardson, San Elizario, San Marcos, Trinity and Westlake.earlier earned All-District Academic honors …
The honor was not a total surprise because early this year the team earned All-District Academic honors when every member of the team earned a 90 average or above (3.0+). Three earned All-State Academic honors, Darby Smith, Kendall Vondra and Maggie Pyles, for grades 94 and above (3.4+).
Lady Kat team members included Seniors: Maggie Pyles, Darby Smith, Kylie Foster, Kendra Vondra; Juniors: Bethany Klinkenberg, Ranaja Taylor, Emma Riffe, Jodi Dixon, Jasmine Alli, Katie Miller; Sophomore: Raeley Crosley, Freshman: Grace Guadagnolo. The breakdown this year had Girls high school leading the way with the number of recipients of 260. The NCAA College Division I honored 132 women?s programs, wh, ile NCAA Division II reached a new record with a total of 119 honorees. NCAA Division III had the second-most honorees this year with a total of 140 schools, matching last year?s record number.
