As Brian McLaughlin, Parade contributor, described the defensive selections, Browning was one of the elite players who could change games.
The five star recruit, who played for Richard Barrett and the Wildcats, Browning finished a semester early at Kennedale High School so he could enroll this semester at Ohio State University. Ohio State University Head Coach Urban Myers won out in the intense battle among top football programs across the country including Alabama and Texas.According to TheColumbus Dispatch
[Columbus, Ohio], Browning is one of several five-star newcomers, many of whom are expected to play significant roles in the 2017 season. The Buckeyes have lost 15 underclassmen to the NFL after the past two seasons.
Meyer raves about his newest players, for their ability and their character.
“I know these players very well,” Myers told the Dispatch, “We are fired up about this class. This could go down as one of those great classes.”
Baron is the most celebrated player in Kennedale football history. Besides the Parade All-American Team, he was also named an All-American by the US. Army and MaxPreps in addition to being the AP Class 4A Defensive Player of the Year in Texas.
HOW PARADE PICKED THE TEAM: In selecting the All-America Team, Parade contributor Brian McLaughlin?a national senior writer covering college football and recruiting for HERO Sports out of Seattle?considered all-state teams, state player of the year honors and statistics and his own observations. On offense, he looked for players who had outstanding senior seasons while also exhibiting Division I potential.
