Both the Girls and Boys Kennedale High School Cross Country teams participated yesterday, Wednesday, September 11 in the Midlothian James Smith Cross Country Meet. It was a very good day to be a Wildcat. {{more}}
A little rain didn?t dampen the wins
Kennedale came close to sweeping the meet, bringing home 3 of 4 first place trophies. The Wildcat Varsity team placed 1st as did the Junior Varsity team. The Lady Kats Varsity Girls placed 2nd while the Junior Varsity team brought home the third 1st trophy.
Allie Thorton placed 3rd overall in the Varsity girls division (2 mile) followed by Jamie Najar (20), Nia Brown (23), Erica Rico (28), Claire Hamilton (38) Bicana Braz (43) out of 98 runners.
In the JV girls division (2 mile), Kennedale took 7 of the 10 top spots with Daphne Hunt (1), Lauren Duran (3), Cara Hunt (4), Claudia Vilchez (5), Tiffany Pavey (6), Yordonas Brown (7) and Bailey Crowley (8). Kylie Deel finished 15th and Amanda Villanueva was 26th.
Varsity Girls
Cameron Christoforo placed 3rd overall in the Varsity boys division (5000 meter) followed by Gustavo Rodriguez (8), Fernando Ortega (17), Trey Burke (21), Michael Vargas (26), Carson Ham (29) and Marc Johnson (40) out of 92 runners. (With the win the team got to throw Coach Strange into the lake because they beat their rival Castleberry).
In the JV boys division (2 mile), Kennedale took 5 of the top ten places starting with Daniel Escobar (1st), Jordan Washington (5th), Luis Gonzales (6th), Keith Shrake (7th) and Alex Ortega (9th). Carlos Ortiz placed 12th and Kyle Christoforo was 13th.
Last week at the Flower Mound 5A/6A meet the Kennedale
Varsity Girls took 4th place in the 5000 meter race, competing against 5A teams. Jamie Najar placed 15th and Nia Brown placed
20th overall followed by Erica Rico (21), Bicana Braz (27), Shania Roper (31)
and Shadericcka Lee (32).
