Kennedale High School started a jazz band program this year and it was an instant success with the students. Last week was show time for the jazz group, performing their first concert in the Kennedale Performing Arts Center.
The band is under the direction of DiMitri Higginbotham, Assistant Director of Bands and who is completing his third year at Kennedale. {{more}}Director of Bands is Erol Oktay. The last time KHS had a jazz band was in 1983 (Ron Burns, Director).
The following are two recordings of part of the jazz concert. The first is a compilation of Miles Davis gospel pieces played by the jazz group.
