Alexis Wheeler, KHS Junior, competed in the UIL Class 5A Region 2 Swimming and Diving Championships in Mansfield on Saturday. Alexis placed 1st in the 200 Freestyle (1:53.86) and 2nd in the 100 Butterfly (58.58), and she achieved personal best times in both events. {{more: continue …}}

As a results she will represent Kennedale in the UIL Class 5A Swimming and Diving Championships next week at the University of Texas at Austin from February 15-16, 2019.?
This is her second trip to Austin for the state swim. In her first state meet last year, Alexis finished 18th out of 24 in the 100 fly prelims which was just two off the top 16 who made the finals on Saturday. It was another personal best with a time of 1:00.48.

Students are allowed by UIL rules to represent their home campus even if the school does not offer the sport in which they are competing. Kennedale ISD does not offer competitive swimming but has and does sponsor any student who wishes to compete.

Kennedale has a recent history of sending a swimmer to the state meet. Several years ago it was KHS student Blake Bunnell. Blake medaled several times.
