When Marisa was younger, she was diagnosed with leukemia or as she put it ?I used to have leukemia.? Now she wants to help those who are now going through the same thing she did. She shared her idea with the staff who worked on the Oncology floor at Fort Worth Children Hospital.
The Oncology floor has a toy closet. It seems after being ?poked? or having a procedure done that the children get to visit the toy closet and for pick out something for themselves. On her last visit, she was told the closet for teenagers was close to becoming bare. Her plan, instead of having a Sweet Sixteen celebration for herself, she wants to collect books, video games, mature coloring books, iTunes cards, clothing articles, etc for teenagers who are being treated.
Help Marisa pay it forward
Marisa posted, ?These kids don?t get to have a normal life like we do. I know they will love this.?
Her goal is to have the donations by April 6th. If you would like to help, she has said that you can reach her on Twitter – Marisa Echtle @MarisaEchtle1.Note: Kennedale News contacted Marisa to get her permission to share this story. Pay it forward, used in this article by the Kennedale News, is an expression for describing the
beneficiary of a good deed repaying it to others instead of to the original
benefactor. (Wikipedia)
