16 nominated for NCA All-American Team four selected
In June the KHS Varsity and Junior Varsity teams attended the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) Camp at Sam Houston State University and came back with a bucket load of honors and awards. {{more: Read More …}}
It was a huge week for Wildcat squad from Kennedale High School, winning top honors across the board. The four day camp was very good for the KHS Squad under new coach Chasmin Jenkins. Former coach Barbara Johnston left at the end of the school year to teach and coach in Burleson.
Top honors …
- 16 All-American nominations – the most nominations for one team out of the entire camp.Nominations: Jordan Barnett, Gwyneth Camp, Mileyshka Colon, Carly Costa, Madyson Hamblin, Reagan Hamblin, Jordan Harrison, Emily Marr, Joy Sikes, Kolbi Sipho, Haley Sloat, Allison Smith, Tiara Taylor, Aliviyah (Liv) Ward, Katy Wester, and Jordan Willingham.
- four Wildcats were selected for the 2017 NCA All-American Team: Jordan Barnett, Emily Marr, Tiara Taylor, and Aliviyah (Liv) Ward.
- Liv Ward scored the highest out of all the All-American nominees during try-outs and was named the Top NCA All-American Cheerleader at the camp, one of the highest honors given.
- Tiara Taylor was extended an invitation by NCA to be on their staff. One of just two invitation given during the week making it another top NCA honor won by the KHS team.
- Caleb Eason, the KHS Mascot, was chosen as a NCA All-American mascot.
The team also won the following
- won the Spirit Stick each day;
- placed first in the Champion Chant division. In this competition, teams are evaluated on the best execution of a camp-taught chant with incorporated tumbling, jump, and stunt skills.
- received Blue Superior Ribbons on each of their evaluations throughout camp
More about the NCA All-American Team …
Cheerleaders are nominated by NCA Staff members for All-American. Nominations are awarded to those cheerleaders with exceptional jumps, tumbling, stunts, motions, and/or leadership. These nominations give athletes the opportunity to try-out for the NCA All-American Team, which comes with the chance to cheer in places such as London, Orlando (Walt Disney World), and Philadephia.
