After several fundraising events and the valuable support of KHS?s Fine Arts Booster Club, these students have been able to accumulate necessary funding needed to be a part of this prestigious event. As members of KHS?s Thespian Troupe #5534 they are joining more than 3000 student attendees and their teachers who will converge on the campus of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for the Educational Theatre Association?s Thespian Festival.

The Festival is a weeklong celebration of theatre featuring a wealth of opportunities such as: Great high school performances on four different stages; more than 100 workshops and masterclasses; a student leadership program; auditions for college admission and Thespian scholarships; and Student written Thespian Playworks and Thespian Musicalworks programs. Individual Student Events will also take place. Participants will be adjudicated, and compete with other students from around the US and other countries for awards and special recognition. Among those selected last winter by Texas State Thespians are KHS students Vanessa Stahl and Ben Garcia, who will compete in the Dual Scene portion of Individual Student Events.

Alison Villaire will also be representing the state of Texas, as a member of the Texas Thespians Student State Board. Ms Villaire was chosen for her position on the State Board while attending the State Thespian Festival in Dallas, last November. She is the fifth KHS Thespian to be appointed to the Student State Board during Mr. Doug Parker?s tenure as Theatre Director at Kennedale High School.
