ACTIONS ??
Expulsion Appeal?
- The school board considered an grievance over an expulsion of a student filed by the parents of the student. Much of that portion of the meeting was in closed session in consultation with the board attorney and parents presentation. The Board then in open session denied the grievance filed by the parents and affirmed the action of the administration in recommending the expulsion.??
Board videos
- For several years the KISD Board of Trustees has been posting online videos of each of the Board?s regular monthly meetings. These videos can be found on the KISD website listed under School Board. (Note: The latest board video is also posted on this page in the right hand column as it becomes available).?
- The link was taken down last month when a concerned was raised of a possible violation regarding ADA and content accessible regulations in the posting of the videos because of often inaccurate closed captions. However, since that time that this concerned was first raised, the U.S. Department of Justice has put the ADA Content Accessibility regulations on an inactive list, meaning that they are not currently being enforced.?
- The Board voted to reinstate the video link while additional technology applications are considered for enhancement of the closed caption option. Several options were discussed including adding an official sign language interpreter for all regular board meeting and/or a better closed caption option service. Cost for an interpreter could range from $210-$270 per meeting and $1 per minute for an enhanced closed caption application.
