KISD Meets TEA Standards with several campuses earning multiple distinctions

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) released the Accountability Ratings last Friday and Kennedale ISD continues to meet and exceed standards as set by the Agency. The ratings were released for more than 1,200 school districts and charters, as well as the more than 8,600 campuses statewide. {{more}}
 
Under the current accountability system there are three categories to which a district or campus may be assigned: Met Standard, Met Alternative Standard, or Improvement Required.
 
The 2015 ratings are based on a system that uses a range of indicators to provide greater detail about the performance of a district or charter and individual campuses throughout the state. The performance index framework includes four areas:
  1. Student Achievement (performance across all subjects;
  2. Student Progress (year-to-year student progress);
  3. Closing the Performance Gaps (academic achievement of economically disadvantaged students and the lowest performing racial/ethnic student groups); and,
  4. Postsecondary Readiness (providing students with the foundation necessary for success in college, the workforce, job training programs or the military).
 

KISD DISTRICT PERFORMANCE

  • Student Achievement, the state target was 60 and Kennedale ISD scored 82.
  • Student Progress, the state target was 20 and KISD scored 39.
  • Under Closing Performance Gaps, the state target was 28 and Kennedale scored 43.
  • Postsecondary Readiness, the state target was 57 and KISD exceeded it with a 79.
  • Number and percent of overall indicators met, KISD scored a 96% having made 30 out 32 performance rates, 14 out of 14 participation rates and 5 out of 5 graduation rates.
 
KISD CAMPUS PERFORMANCE
 
All campuses met standards and several earned distinction designations. Kennedale Junior High School led all campuses with 5 out of a possible 7 distinctions. (Distinction designations are awarded to campuses based on achievement on performance indicators compared to a group of 40 campuses of similar type, size and student demographics)
  • Kennedale High School met all standards; earned a 97% rating on the number and percent of indicators met; and, earned 2 distinctions in Science and Reading/ELA (English).
  • Kennedale Junior High met all standards; earned a 100% rating on the number and percent of indicators met; and, earned 5 distinctions in Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Top 25% Student Progress and Top 25% in Closing Performance Gaps.
  • James A Arthur Intermediate met all standards and scored a 94% on the number and percent of indicators met.
  • James F Delaney Elementary met all standards; earned two distinctions in Top 25% in Student Progress and Top 25% in Closing the Performance Gaps; and, scored 100% in the number and percent of indicators met.
  • R F Patterson Elementary met all standards and scored 92% in the number and percent of indicators met.
