Hello Kennedale,?I am Leslie Carruthers and I am running for Kennedale School Board Place 1.??I have lived in Kennedale for nearly 20 years. I have 2 kids; one graduated from KHS last year and the other is currently a Freshman at KHS.?{{more: continue …}}They both started at KISD schools in Kindergarten.?I taught at Delaney Elementary for 18 years before retiring from teaching to go work in our family business (Pearson Air) and help run a nonprofit in honor of my oldest brother that helps families dealing with cancer and acute illnesses (Gregg Pearson Foundation.)?
As a former employee and as an educator with many years of classroom experience, I can offer a unique perspective to the board on decision making. We have many great things going on in KISD and I hope to continue helping make our schools a success.

My top priority if re-elected to the Kennedale School Board is the kids and to continue offering them the best at KISD. We have many wonderful schools, programs, and extra-curricular activities that are offered in Kennedale.

I believe we compete and exceed in every area compared to other 4A schools and many bigger schools, however, we will always be looking for ways to improve and do better. I will focus on giving our educators the tools they need to help all our students succeed.?
One of the most important issues facing our school district, and every other place in our country today is providing a safe and positive environment for our kids to learn. A place that values and fosters children. It is important that our kids feel they are safe at school, and that their other basic needs are also met. If we can accomplish these things, then we can have them ready to focus on school, learning, and becoming responsible citizens.
