The Kennedale Police Department reported the following 21 incidents for the two week period beginning February 25 through March 10, 2018 and included theft, stolen auto and death investigation. {{more: continue …}}

These reports and others were in addition to on-going investigations. These do not include calls where no report was written. Some of the offenses, after further investigation, may have been deemed unfounded.

2/25 – Application for Mental Detention and Observation – At 2:08 p.m. officers responded to a domestic disturbance. The suspect is prescribed medication for mental issues but had not been taking them. She was agitated and appeared to be uncontrollably angry. She was also speaking incoherently to the officer. She was transported to JPS Hospital for an emergency mental detention and evaluation.

2/25 – Theft – Kevin Miller Road: At 6:27 p.m. a victim reported that persons unknown entered her horse trailer and removed several saddles and bridles. The items were valued at $3,700.00.

2/26 – Assault Bodily Injury (Family Violence) – At 11:50 p.m. officers responded to a domestic disturbance. A female victim reported that her husband had pushed her and spit in her face during an argument. The suspect had left the home right after the assault and spoke to officers by phone. The suspect stated that he was flying out of town on business and would not be returning for the night. The victim requested a protective order to be filed based on the domestic violence.

2/26 – Tobacco/Smoking on School Property – Wildcat Way: At 11:30 a.m. a school resource officer was notified that a staff member had found tobacco products in the backpack of an adult student. He was cited for the violation and released.

2/26 – Assault by Contact – At 9:37 p.m. officers responded to an assault call. A female victim stated that her grandson had assaulted her by pinning her against a wall when she tried to give him medication. The grandson admitted to the assault. He was cited and was allowed to remain at the scene after taking his medication.

2/27 – Driving While Intoxicated – N. Little School Road: At 5:10 a.m. officers responded to a major accident. An adult male was travelling at a high rate of speed and struck a curb in a roundabout. The vehicle flipped over several times before coming to rest in a vacant field. The driver was transported to JPS Hospital for medical evaluation and treatment. A blood draw warrant was obtained and served at the hospital.

2/27 – Theft $100 to $750 – Caymus Street: At 9:40 a.m. a victim reported that two uninstalled windows were taken from a construction site during the overnight hours.

2/27 – Theft under $100 – Wildcat Way: At 6:19 p.m. a victim reported that an unknown person removed his front license plate from his vehicle. The plate was believed to have been removed while the victim was at work that day.

2/28 – Assault (Bodily Injury) – Corry A. Edwards Drive: At 10:40 a.m. a school resource officer was notified of an assault at the junior high school. A juvenile male assaulted another juvenile male between classes. The assault was captured on video by the school?s security system. Both were released to their parents. The suspect will have a case referred to the juvenile center for the assault.

2/28 – Vehicle Burglary – E. IH 20: At 12:30 p.m. a victim reported that on the day before person(s) unknown entered her vehicle while it was parked at a business. A purse with medications and a cell phone was removed. There was no forced entry on the vehicle.

3/2 – Incident – Creekwood Court: At 5:18 p.m. officers responded to a disturbance involving a man with a gun. On arrival officers discovered that the disturbance involved two males trying to repossess a truck for missed payments. The truck?s owner wanted to retrieve his personal items, including a handgun, from the vehicle. The repossessor called police when he observed the handgun. The truck?s owner stated that he had made the payment the day before but it could not be confirmed. The repossession company did not have a court order to seize the vehicle for non-payment and left the vehicle at the scene until paperwork could be secured.

3/2 – Incident – North Road: At 4:46 p.m. officers responded to a report of a suspicious male in a home. A home owner reported that while he and his wife were out, a suspicious male had conned his way into their home. The male was dressed in a blue shirt and a reflective vest. He reported that there was a gas leak and needed to enter the home. The homeowner?s 14 year old granddaughter allowed him inside the home but the homeowners arrived shortly after he entered. The suspicious male fled the residence in a white 80s model Chevrolet truck when the homeowners returned. It is unknown why the male wanted entry to the home as nothing appeared to be missing and no demands were made or weapons displayed. A witness chased the vehicle and was able to obtain a partial license plate number of CZ_ 9453. The male is described as stocky build, 5?10?, mid 30s, and possibly Hispanic.

03/03 ? Burglary ? Estates Drive: At 3:27 p.m. a victim reported to police that his home had been burglarized. During the day when the victim was not home, an unknown person forced open the front door and removed several electronic items. The offense was captured on a nearby security video.

03/04 – Driving While Intoxicated – SE Loop 820: At 1:15 a.m. an officer observed a 2011 white Ford that had struck a fence in the 6700 block of Oak Crest Drive. The lone occupant, an adult female, was in the driver seat and the air bags were deployed. The female stated that she was waiting for someone to pick her up from the location. The female smelled of alcoholic beverage and appeared to be under the influence. She was unable to successfully complete a field sobriety assessment and was placed under arrest. After being transported to jail a blood warrant was obtained and a blood draw was conducted. The female was booked into the jail without incident.

03/05 – Application for Mental Detention and Observation – N. Little School Road: At 7:56 p.m. officers responded to an emotionally disturbed person. A homeless male was in a business and threatening suicide. The subject appeared to be suffering from a mental episode of some type and was detained for safety. He was taken to JPS Hospital for an emergency mental detention and observation.

03/06 – Possession Control Substance – Mountain View Lane: At 2:05 a.m. an officer stopped a vehicle for erratic driving. The officer smelled alcoholic beverage and marijuana inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed that the driver was in possession of marijuana and prescription medication. The suspect was transported to jail for a blood draw and to be booked in for the narcotics and DWI.

03/06 ? Theft $2,500 to $30,000 – N. Little School Road: At 8:12 p.m. a victim reported that her 2007 Honda Fit was stolen from the parking lot of her employer. The vehicle was taken during the employee?s work shift.

03/07 – Burglary – Stags Leap Trail: At 8:20 a.m. a company employee reported that person(s) unknown removed two uninstalled thermostats from a house under construction. The door the house had been left unsecured overnight.

03/08 – Death Investigation – Crest View Drive: At 4:54 p.m. officers responded to a welfare concern. A complainant reported that her neighbor had not been seen in some time. He was described as in poor health and possibly in his 70s. Officers located an unlocked back door but were unable to make immediate entry due to several large dogs. ACO was contacted to handle the dogs. The resident, a male, was observed in a room of the home and appeared to be deceased. Officers contacted the on-call investigator and a search warrant was obtained for the premises. The dogs were removed from the location so that an investigation could be conducted. The deceased was turned over to the medical examiner?s office. The male appeared to be deceased from natural causes.

03/09 – Incident – Bowman Springs Road: At 12:37 p.m. officers responded to a report of a possible threat against a private school campus. The threat was reported by phone to a school official after all students had left the campus for spring break. Investigators were notified and were able to speak with the reporting person. After further investigation it was determined that the statement made did not rise to the level of a threat or a criminal act.

03/09 – Vehicle Burglary – Fawn Meadow Trail: At 4:31 p.m. a victim reported that during the overnight hours person(s) unknown entered his vehicle without authorization and removed several hundred dollars in tools. The rear window does not secure and it is believed that this is where the entry occurred.
