KPD Incidents Reports for July 17-30

The Kennedale police dealt with several serious incidents ranging from murder to sexual assault and an attempted child abduction that later turned out as unconfirmed. This was an exceptional two weeks compared to the normal incidents of theft, possession of controlled substances and domestic disturbance. {{more: Read more…}}

07/17 ? Burglary ? 5700 block of Eden Road: At 12:45 p.m. a victim reported that his mother?s home, which has been vacant for several years, was burglarized by unknown person(s). Entry was achieved by forcing the rear door open. The offense occurred sometime during the last two weeks.

07/17 ? Seized Property ? Estates Drive: At 10:08 a.m. a complainant contacted police to report that her son had been involved in a burglary in a nearby city. The complainant gave the officer two cameras that were taken by the son. The son was interviewed by the officer in regards to the offense. The cameras were seized as evidence to be held. Arlington police will be contacted to follow-up.

07/18 ? Possession of Controlled Substance ? 200 block of W. Kennedale Parkway: At 6:22 p.m. officers responded to a hit and run accident. A red Chevrolet truck was reported to have struck another vehicle while the victim was turning into Chicken Express. The truck was located and stopped a short distance away. The hit and run driver appeared to be intoxicated and was unable to successfully complete a field sobriety assessment. He was arrested and transported to jail for booking. During the book-in process, the suspect was found to be in possession of cocaine hidden in his wallet. He was charged with that as well.

07/18 – Theft $750 to $2,500 ? 200 block of Valley Lane: At 10:30 a.m. a victim reported that person(s) unknown entered his property through a gate and removed $750.00 in marine batteries. Suspect(s) also damaged a 2002 Ford truck and a game camera.

07/19 ? Assault Bodily Injury ? 700 block of W. Kennedale Parkway: At 8:46 a.m. officers responded to a reported assault. A business manager reported that he was assaulted by an employee. The employee, who had turned in his notice to quit, was present and spoke to officers. The victim displayed injuries consistent with the reported assault. The employee was arrested for the assault and transported to jail for booking.

07/19 ? Abandoned/Found Property ? 800 block of Trent Street: At 5:55 p.m. an officer responded to a citizen report of a found wallet. A wallet was found in the yard of a home on Trent Street. The owner could not be contacted and the wallet was entered into property and evidence for safekeeping.

07/21 ? Possession of Controlled Substance ? 300 block of S. Dick Price Road: At 12:22 a.m. an officer stopped a vehicle for speeding. Upon stopping, the female driver and male passenger both exited the vehicle. The officer ordered both subjects back into the vehicle. The driver complied but the passenger fled the scene, dropping an item as he ran. Back-up officers arrived but were unable to locate the male suspect. The dropped item turned out to be a cigarette package containing a glass pipe and methamphetamine. The driver, who verbally identified the passenger, stated that the car was a rental but dispatch confirmed that it was reported stolen in a strong-arm robbery in Dallas. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to jail for booking.

07/21 – Abandoned/Found Property ? 400 block of Municipal Drive: At 2:57 p.m. a citizen reported finding a wallet in the ditch on New Hope Road. The wallet?s owner lives in Houston and his emergency contact stated that the owner of the wallet attends events at the Kennedale race tracks on weekends. The contact provided a number for the owner, who didn?t answer. The wallet was entered into property for safe keeping.

07/21 ? Assault by Contact ? Lindale Road: At 5:40 p.m. officers responded to a domestic disturbance. Witnesses reported that a male had assaulted a female by pushing her to the ground. The witnesses also reported that when they intervened the male pulled a knife on them. The suspect and victim were observed a short distance away leaving the scene together. The male denied pushing the female but did say he grabbed her. He also admitted to using the knife to keep the witnesses away as he felt threatened. The male was wanted on multiple warrants and was arrested for the warrants as well as the assault. He was transported to jail for booking.

07/22 ? Vehicle Burglary ? 7300 block of Batchelor Road: At 6:02 a.m. a victim reported that several employee cars at his business had been broken into overnight. A suspect was observed on video entering the storage yard where the unlocked vehicles were parked. Cash, electronics, and personal items were taken. The suspect also took a white Dodge Ram truck from another business that shares the same lot. Entry was gained by cutting the lock off of the gate.

07/22 ? Fraudulent Use/Possession of Identifying Information ? 400 block of Municipal Drive: At 3:00 p.m. a victim reported that person(s) unknown used his account at Sam?s Club to redeem rewards points. The suspect(s) used the victim?s information to have three gift cards sent to an address in Georgia. The victim has no idea how his information was accessed or who committed the offense.

07/24 ? Assault by Contact ? Woodland Court: At 11:54 p.m. a victim reported that her intoxicated roommate struck her with a beer can. The suspect was arrested for the assault and transported to jail.

07/25 ? Emergency Medical Detention ? At 5:10 p.m. officers were dispatched to a disturbance at a group home. A resident of the home had become upset and was threatening a care-giver and another resident with harm using a metal pick. After being told several times to drop the weapon, the suspect finally complied with the officer?s request. He was transported to JPS Hospital for an emergency mental evaluation.

07/26 ? Criminal Trespass ? Woodland Court: At 1:13 a.m. officers responded to a prowler call. Officers discovered a male outside of the residence. The male stated that he knew the resident of the home and wished to speak to her. The resident knew the male but did not want to see him. The resident requested that the male be given a trespass warning and escorted from the property.

07/26 ? Murder ? 1000 block of Belmont Drive: At 5:26 p.m. officers were dispatched to a possible shooting. On arrival the officers met with the 22 year old son of the homeowners. The son stated that his father had called a family member in Oklahoma earlier, stating that he had shot his wife and was about to shoot himself. The son provided a key to the residence and the officers went inside to check on the homeowners. Inside officers discovered a 46 year old male and a 47 year old female, both deceased, who were later confirmed to be husband and wife. It is believed that the husband shot and killed his wife and then himself over marital issues.

07/28 ? Criminal Trespass ? 1200 block of W. Kennedale Parkway: At 9:43 p.m. an officer responded to a report of a panhandler at a convenience store. After locating the suspect, a 27 year old pregnant female, she was issued a trespass warning at the request of management and escorted from the property.

07/29 ? Incident ? 200 block of S. New Hope Road: At 8:54 p.m. officers responded to a report of an attempted abduction. A 6 year old female and a 7 year old male reported that an unknown adult male had attempted to get them into a vehicle. Due to conflicting suspect and vehicle information from the juveniles, it is unknown if this attempt really happened or not. A report was generated as a precaution in the event that the attempt is proven later to be true.

07/30 ? Public Intoxication ? 3rd Street: At 2:31 a.m. officers observed a disturbance in the front yard of a residence. Two females were arguing and appeared to be intoxicated. The officers got everyone calmed and into their homes when one of the females came back outside and started another disturbance. The female was arrested for public intoxication and transported to jail. The second female was transported to a local hospital due to a high blood sugar issue.

07/30 ? Aggravated Sexual Assault (Child) ? 3rd Street: At 7:26 a.m. officers responded to a report of a sexual assault of a child. The offense occurred earlier in the month and involved a six year old male victim and a ten year old male suspect, who is a neighbor of the victim. Officers took statements from several witnesses and detectives will follow up.

07/29 ? Burglary ? 1200 block of E. Kennedale Parkway: At 9:17 a.m. a victim reported that his business was burglarized in the early morning hours. Entry was made through an unsecured back door. Workers at a neighboring business observed two males leaving the property pushing a wheel barrow with tools in it. The witness used a vehicle to go after the suspects, who had disappeared. The wheel barrow and part of the tools were recovered and returned. Two saws valued at $1,600.00 were missing.

07/30 ? Minor in Possession of Tobacco ? 1200 block of W. Kennedale Parkway: At 2:49 a.m. an officer was advised of a sick male at a convenience store. The male was not observed but while interviewing a 17 year old female about the call, she was found to be in possession of cigarettes. It was discovered that the female used an older friend?s identification to purchase the tobacco. A citation was issued and the cigarettes confiscated as evidence.

07/29 ? Criminal Mischief $100 to $750 ? 600 block of Tower Drive: At 8:53 a.m. a victim reported that a company truck had been damaged overnight. Person(s) unknown broke out a rear window on a Dodge Ram truck. Nothing was taken from the vehicle.
