Eleven KHS students of the Kennedale Youth Police Academy, who completed courses, trainings, and a final written examination, are the first cadets to graduate from the KYPA. {{more: continue.. }}

The cadets were honored in a ceremony at the Kennedale Police Department Headquarters on March 22, 2019. The keynote speaker of the ceremony was Ty Stimpson, Tarrant County Assistant District Attorney.

The program, a first offered by the KPD along with KISD, is a nine week program that gave the students a chance to visit and train with officers in the various fields within the law enforcement profession including demonstrations from SWAT officers and K-9 teams. The student cadets were also required to compete various services projects.

Graduating from the Academy did not make the students peace officer but it did give them a chance to learn about law enforcement career opportunities and develop a better understanding of the needs and challeges that law enforcement faces today.

The students were supervised by the program?s founder, Delvin Starling, KISD/KPD School Resource Officer.
