KPD reports rash of traffic stops with illegal possession

In last week?s incident reports, the Kennedale Police Department dealt with a number of illegal drug/substance issues during routine traffic stops. {{more}}
 
The Department also recovered a stolen UTV, took a report on a falsified tax return filing and a burglary of two apartments on Tealpond Drive.
 
The traffic stop reports included the following information.
 
03/08 – Possession of Marijuana – 700 block of N. Dick Price Road: At 3:00 a.m. an officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Upon contacting the driver, a 28 year old male, the officer observed marijuana in plain view in the passenger compartment. The driver also had an active warrant from North Richland Hills. He was arrested for the marijuana and the warrant, and was transported to jail for booking.
 

03/09 – DWI/Possession of Dangerous Drug – 6300 block of Treepoint Drive: At 2:23 a.m. an officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Upon contacting the driver, a 41 year old female, the officer smelled a strong odor of alcoholic beverage. The driver was unable to successfully perform a field sobriety assessment and was arrested for DWI. The driver has two prior convictions for DWI as well. While being booked in, a jailer also found the female to be in possession of a dangerous drug for which she had no prescription. She was charged with both offenses.

 
03/10 – Delivery of Controlled Substance, Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon – 7900 block of Mansfield Highway: At 9:54 p.m. an officer made a traffic stop for a speeding violation. While approaching the vehicle, the two male occupants made a number of furtive gestures as though to hide something. Upon contacting the driver, the officer observed what appeared to be marijuana residue on the driver’s pants. During the interview with the occupants, the officer located a fully loaded .40 caliber handgun as well as a large amount of cocaine and marijuana with weighing scales. The driver admitted to the contraband and was arrested. The passenger, a juvenile, was escorted to the police department and released to his parent.
 
03/11 – Possession of Controlled Substance – 1000 block of Bowman Springs Road: At 5:10 a.m. an officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. During the interview of the male driver and two female passengers, the officer found methamphetamine, marijuana, and prescription pills for which no prescription was located. In addition, the male had presented a false drivers license in an effort to avoid arrest on an active warrant from Irving. The male admitted to the offenses and the females were released at the scene. The suspect was booked into jail.
 
03/13 – Possession of Marijuana – 1200 block of W. Kennedale Parkway: At 8:10 p.m. an officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Upon interviewing the three occupants, it was determined that one of the passengers was in possession of marijuana, and a controlled substance for which there was no prescription. The male passenger was taken into custody for transport to jail. It was determined before he was booked in that he lied about his age and was actually a juvenile. He was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.
