“I just wanted to share a quick history of our archery team using only previous year state qualifying scores and number of participants we had for the qualifiers and then the final team scores at state and the number of kids on those teams. Stats can be misleading, but not when there is a plan in place for growth and the future.”?2015-16 first year for competitive archery …??
“In 2015-16, our first year to have a competitive archery team. We had 7 full class periods of outdoor ed. Over 225 kids participated during the school day that year. It was the year we moved Biology to a sophomore class and we needed a class for me to teach until Biology came back the next year into my schedule.
In 2015-16, our state qualifying score was a 3,048 with 19 kids which seeded us as 16th out of the 55 schools who competed in the qualifier. Of those 55, 42 made it to state. We entered the state tournament with a full team of 24 archers and shot a 3,188. That is our current school record and we finished 7th in the state out of the 42 that qualified.”?

We shot a 3,173 and finished 11th in the state.”?2017-18 split teams with both qualifying …??
have a 3D archery team for the first time …?
“So, to quantify this year’s numbers…we had 35 kids participate in the state qualifier, and will be taking 39 to participate at state on two teams. We will have a 3-D archery team this year for the first time ever. We will have two teams competing at state for the NASP scholarships offered. The potential is there for us to have a monster year at state and set the bar even higher for future classes.
I don’t know how it will shake out at state, but I do know we will be allowing 39 kids an opportunity to compete in sport that is gaining more momentum every year. Time will tell how it all pans out.
Thank you KISD for allowing our kids the opportunity to participate in archery!”
