Despite having won recognition for its transparency and innovations the City of Kennedale under the direction of Mayor Brian Johnson wants to improve communication. And, he thinks one way is the more direct, old fashion, live, face to face talk. {{more}}
In this month?s KennedaleeNewsletter
Johnson list all the ways citizens can learn about what is happening in the City. (All the following are live links back to the city with information about each).
- City website
- City calendar of events
- List of city council and board meetings (complete with times, dates and detail explanations of agendas – agendas/packets are usually posted the week of the meeting)
- City on facebook & twitter
- Information on new construction
- All city ordinances
But the mayor refers to these as ?passive in that residents must visit the website in order to stay informed or share their feedback.?
Seeking more active ways Johnson says ?we are always looking for new, affordable methods to get information to you.? He goes on to say, ?Solutions are not easy to come by, and that?s why we?re asking you for ideas. How can we better keep you informed and get feedback on important issues??
One method he suggests is in person. ?We believe one way to better communicate with citizens is to do so directly. If you have a homeowner?s association meeting, block party, or other function and would like me or someone from the city council to speak, please let me know and we will be happy to do it.?
Johnson ends his letter by saying, ?… I?d like to hear your thoughts!?
