The Kennedale Police Department reported the following 13 incidents for the one week period August 18, 2019 through August 24, 2019. The reports included forgery, theft, DWI, assault, and narcotics.? {{more: continue ?}}

These reports and others were in addition to on-going investigations. These do not include calls where no report was written. Some of the offenses, after further investigation, may have been deemed unfounded.

Police Reports: 08/18/19 ? 08/24/19?
08/18 ? DWI/Fail to Stop and Render Aid/Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon – Bowman Springs Road: At 12:04 a.m. officers responded to a hit and run accident. The victim was still following the vehicle. Officers were able to locate and stop the vehicles on Bowman Springs Road. The suspect, a male, was driving a black Dodge and appeared to be intoxicated when contacted by officers. The driver was unable to successfully complete a field sobriety assessment. He was placed under arrest for DWI and hit and run. During the contact, officers located a partial bottle of vodka and a loaded 9mm handgun in the suspect vehicle. It was determined after speaking with the victim that the suspect had not struck her vehicle but had actually struck her person with his vehicle. The victim requested medical assistance and paramedics responded. The victim was transported to a local hospital and the suspect was transported to jail for booking. A blood draw warrant was obtained and the sample drawn for evidence.
08/20 ? Theft $100 to $750 – W. Kennedale Parkway:? At 9:40 a.m. an officer responded to a theft in progress. A male suspect was reported to have taken two backpacks full of merchandise from a store. When confronted by an employee, the suspect and an accomplice fled the scene. The theft was observed on video and made available to police. Based on the information provided, the officer was able to identify a possible suspect vehicle as well as two possible suspects.
08/19 ? Application for Mental Detention and Observation: At 11:00 p.m. officers responded to a suicidal person. A juvenile female was reported to be threatening to harm herself. Upon contacting the juvenile, officers were informed that she was dealing with depression and had thought about suicide in the past but not that day. Officers were provided with a letter that the female had written to a friend that indicated she was a threat to herself. The juvenile was transported to Cooks Children?s Hospital for an emergency mental detention and evaluation.
08/19 ? Theft $750 to $2,500 – W. Kennedale Parkway: At 10:30 a.m. an officer received a report of a theft. A victim reported that a tread was stolen from his place of business. The tread goes on an excavator.
08/19 ? Burglary – E. Kennedale Parkway:? At 10:08 a.m. a victim reported that unknown person(s) entered a business property and removed several hundred dollars in items. The victim was able to identify a former employee as a possible suspect.
08/20 ? Application for Mental Detention and Observation:? At 9:38 p.m. officers responded to a report of a suicidal person. A witness had contacted police to say that an adult male at the residence had threatened to shoot himself at midnight. Officers were able to locate the male, who stated that he had not made threats to harm himself. Officers were able to confirm the threats were made and transported the male to JPS Hospital for an emergency mental detention and evaluation.
08/20 ? Narcotics – Woodland Court:? At 12:29 p.m. officers responded to a follow-up of a theft of service complaint. An adult male and female were located asleep in a Chevrolet truck that was parked in a driveway. Officers observed narcotics and related paraphernalia in plain view inside of the vehicle. Both subjects were roused and removed from the vehicle. Officers located heroin and methamphetamine as well as syringes and a glass pipe in plain view inside of the vehicle. Both subjects were arrested and transported to jail for booking.
08/20 ? DWI – W. Kennedale Parkway: ? At 9:40 p.m. an officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. The vehicle driver, an adult male, appeared to have been drinking heavily. The driver was unable to successfully complete a field sobriety test. He was placed under arrest for DWI and transported to jail for booking.
08/21 ? Burglary – Greenfield Court:? At 6:52 p.m. an officer responded to a burglary. A victim reported that unknown person(s) had entered his residence by forcing the back patio door. The residence had been disturbed with drawers being pulled open and searched. The victim was unable to give the officer a complete list of missing items and stated that he will provide one at a later date.
08/22 ? Theft $750 to $2,500 – Corry A. Edwards Drive:? At 10:30 a.m. a school resource officer received a report of a stolen cell phone belonging to a staff member. The suspect was believed to be a juvenile student. The phone was located several days later through a ping by Apple. The location was the student?s residence. When confronted, the student admitted to the theft and brought the item back to school.
08/23 ? Theft $2,500 to $30,000 – S. New Hope Road:? At 1:07 p.m. an officer received a report of a theft of a wood chipper. The chipper was located on a fenced property in a wooded area.
08/24 ? Aggravated Assault (Deadly Weapon) – Sonora Drive:? At 11:13 a.m. officers responded to a report of an aggravated assault. A contractor reported that during an attempt to recover payment for services rendered, the male resident pointed a handgun at him. The resident reported that he felt threatened by the contractor, who was holding a large pry bar. The victim reported that he did not want to file charges for the assault but that he just wanted to be paid.
08/24 ? Forgery – W. Kennedale Parkway:? At 8:00 p.m. an officer responded to a report of a forgery. On arrival, an adult male victim reported that he has had an ex-employee passing forged checks on the victim?s business account for several months. When the victim was contacted by the store about the validity of a check being cashed, he immediately responded to observe the ex-employee and a second person flee the scene in a Cadillac Escalade. Detectives will follow up.
