On the same night at the same location, the Kennedale Wildcats and the Kennedale LadyKats each won their first round playoff game. This team under Coach Heath Wakeland is also in the process of setting a new record for most wins in a single season, currently at 17-7-6 and have increased the consecutive playoff record to 4.?

It was a tough first round challenge for Kennedale. Besides being a school rivalry game, Alvarado entered the game at 16-6 and 10-2 in District 8-4A. They had set a school goal record this season scoring 80 times and had 9 shutouts this year. Last year they made it into the area round, falling to Argyle on penalty kicks.?
In a pre-game article by the Cleburne Times-Review, Alvarado Coach Israel Stephens called the game when he said, ?Kennedale is a very technical, athletic, and well-coached team. They have one of the most talented players in the area across all classifications in Kevin Tiero. The match will be tough.??

The game lived up to its billing. Kennedale scored the matchup?s lone goal about midway through the first half on a Kevin Tiero kick off a Logan Fucile assist. The Wildcats then managed fend off the Indians from finding the goal. It was at least the 11th shutout of the year for the Wildcats and goalie Jesus Gallegos.?
Gainesville 14-6-2 is the winner of District 5-4A, beating out Argyle, Anna and Melissa in the four team district. Gainesville did not play last week after earning a bye. Kennedale and Gainesville have not played each other this year. Gainesville record is 14-6-2. Kennedale record is 17-7-6.
District 7-4A went 2-2 last week with Castleberry and Kennedale advancing while Diamond Hill and Benbrook lost 1-0 and 2-1 respectively.?2018 UIL Boys Soccer State Tournament ? 4A Region 1&3 Bracket?

The District 7-4A champion Kennedale LadyKats had an easier go of it, beating Venus 4-0 on goals by four different players. Scoring two in the first and two in the second half, Kennedale earned its 17th shutout this season with the assistance of goal keeper Raeley Crosley.

Daphne Hunt earned the first goal by Kennedale with an assist by Megan Jakubsin. Nevaeha Johnson scored the second goal in the first half with a second assist by Megan Jakubisin. In the second half Bailey Crowley scored the third goal with no assist and the final goal was by Mary Grace Howard with an assist by Daphne Hunt.?

Under first year KHS Head coach, Sid Danner, the Lady Kats are currently 15-6-3, 9-1 and will take on Argyle tomorrow night (Tuesday, March 3) at 6:00 p.m. at Southlake Dragon Stadium in the second round of the UIL state soccer playoffs. Directions?
