After winning the first game against Brownwood Friday night, Kennedale was in the position to take it all in the second game of the best of three series in a UIL area playoff game on Saturday afternoon.
?Brownwood didn?t read the Kennedale script and forced the Wildcats into a 3rd game Saturday evening winning the second game by a score of 8-3. In the final and ?loser goes home? game, played at neutral site Glen Rose High School, {{more}}the Wildcats pulled out the big bats (5 doubles) and a triple play to win 7-4 Saturday night.?Kennedale next opponent is Andrews in Waco Friday night (7 pm at Veterans Park) for a best of three series this weekend. Second game will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday with the third game, if needed, played thirty minutes later.?The UIL Baseball Playoff brackets:?http://www.uiltexas.org/baseball/playoff-brackets/3A/1-3???With only one hit in two innings of play and the score knotted at 0-0, Kennedale needed muscle at the plate and got it. The Wildcats scored two off of doubles by Brett Hunt and Brett Taylor and a single from Josh Taylor. Brett Taylor doubled again in the fifth. The Wildcat went up 2 and never lost the lead the rest of the game.?Kennedale added another run in the top of the 4th when Brett Hunt hit a sacrifice fly to plate Aaron Williams. Zak Michener got a single in the inning.?Brownwood looked as if they were ready to take over the game when they scoring two in the bottom of the 4th and had the bases loaded with not outs. The ‘No Sweat Cats”?did the rare triple play, ending the last major Brownwood threat of the game. Kennedale defensive players involved in the triple play were Jake Michener, Austin Hunt, Josh Taylor and Brett Taylor.?Kennedale sealed the game with a four run 5th inning off of doubles by Brett Taylor, Jay Thomas and?Chayce Coltharp. Brownwood mounted another drive in the bottom of the 5th, scoring 2 runs making it 7-4 but those were the last real scoring opportunities for Brownwood.?Jake Michener got the win for the Kennedale Wildcats Varsity. He allowed two runs over 3 1/3 innings. He struck out two, walked none and surrendered four hits.?
