For Staci Otts, the night was like many she has had over the years, attending a sports event, taking tons of pictures and posting many of them for Kennedale parents and athletes to see and download.it is her hobby and her passion …
Her hobby is taking photos especially of sports. It developed because as a parent of twins, a boy and a girl, and then a younger third child, she and her husband were constantly trading off going to three different games and tournaments not to mention all the practices. Taking pictures was a way to share.
Several years ago when the kids hit high school, she started taking and sharing pictures for the Kennedale News. She didn?t make any money doing it, but it gave her a chance to continue to do what she loved doing and to share it with a wider and a definitely appreciative audience.photos for some history making moments …
And their kids have been at the center of the some of the top sports stories for the Kennedale High School. Daughter, Lauren, was part of the back to back state championships by the LadyKat soccer program the past two years. Their oldest son, Colton Otts, was a member of the Wildcat basketball team that went 28-2 and a semi-final finish at the state championships in 2013 and then last year as a major part of the team, unranked and almost forgotten, that went 9-1 in district play before making it all the way to the regionals semifinals. This year, Nathan, the youngest, played for the Kennedale Wildcat football team that made Kennedale football history when they made it to the state semifinals.back to Tuesday night …
Tuesday night was one of those special nights for players and parents, it was Wildcats Senior Night, the last home game of seniors on the team which Kennedale won 65-34. Photos are treasured.
Afterwards, Otts met her husband at Chili’s on US287. She stowed her equipment behind her seat on the floor locked the car and went inside. She said that she wasn?t in the restaurant much more than 30 minutes when she came out to find the back window in her new car was smashed and her bag containing her camera, equipment and her wallet was gone.
The loss was devastating, not only for the cost estimated at $4000, but just the emotional loss of something that has meant so much to her. Added to it, was the fact that all the photos that she had taken that night were gone.
She very much would love to recover all her equipment. The Arlington Police Department has all the information but it is going to be difficult to get it back, she understands. She said maybe she will at least get the SD card back with the stored pictures, a real long shot.know anything, see anything …
