Kennedale reaps 13 gold, 7 silver 7 bronze as Lady Kats win area track & Cats take second

The Kennedale Lady Kats defeated ten other teams to secure an area track title while the Wildcat track team came in behind Carrollton Ranchview in UIL 4A District 9/10 Area results last week at Standridge Stadium in Carrollton, April 13. {{more: continue …}}

Together the two Kennedale teams combined to earn 13 gold, 7 silver and 7 bronze medals. Of that total, the Lady Kats earned 8 gold medals (out of a total 17 events), 3 silver, 6 bronze, 2 fourth and 1 fifth place. The Wildcats finished with five gold medals (out of a total 17 events), 4 silver, 1 bronze, 4 fourth places and 1 fifth place.

Both team came in to the area meet as winner of District 9/4A. This time the Lady Kats finished on top with 180 points followed by #2 Carrollton Ranchview (133 pts), #3 Castleberry (98), #4 Benbrook (76) and? #5 Dunbar (45).

The Wildcats finished with 136 points behind #1 Ranchview (182) and ahead of #3 Benbrook (112), #4 Castleberry (72) and #5 Lake Worth (48).?

The most decorated Lady Kats included senior Alexis Brown with 4 gold medals and sophomore Brianna Brand with 5 total medals. Most decorated Wildcats was junior Jordan Saunders with 3 gold and sophomore Darious Johnson with 3 total medals.?

While seniors were key to some of the the medal haul including seniors Alexis Brown (4 medals), Trinitee Warren (1), Jacquira Ishmeal (1), Antwon Watson (2), De’Shaun Kirven, Kade Stephenson (1) and Jaden Smith (2), Kennedale has an abundance of younger talent.

The junior and sophomore class represented the largest number of competitors which included Darrius Johnson (3 medals), Elijah Williams (2), Jordan Saunders (3), Marleet Joyner (1), Johnny Coffey (1), Tanner Coker and Jackson Jones (1) for the Wildcats. The Lady Kats 10th and 11th grade members included Sklar Lewis (3), Daniell Cooper (3), Brianna Brand (5), Tamia Tubbs (2) and Sarays Flores (2).??
