It was another sport with a shortened season. The UIL state high school soccer season and playoffs were cancelled for both the boys and girls soccer programs two weeks before they were set to begin. {{more:? continue}}The LadyKats and the Wildcats were each one game away from finishing their regular season.

The Wildcats (15-9-6, 7-4) were in third place in district play with one game left against 4th place Benbrook. They had an earlier win over Benbrook 2-1. However that game had gone, the Wildcats were set to make their sixth straight playoff appearance. The 2020 Wildcats were coming off a big season last year in which they set a school record in the number of games won in a season and became a region quarterfinal qualifier for another school record.

The Wildcats took home in the interrupted season a total of 12 honors including MVP and Midfielder of the Year. Seven of the Wildcat All-District players were seniors, two were sophomores and two were freshmen.? Jeremy Wakeland is the head coach for the Wildcats. Wakeland teaches world geography at the high school.

The state ranked LadyKats were 17-3 overall, 11-0 in district and were one district game away from completing an undefeated district season. The Kats had not swept a district title since 2017. The 2017 season capped a run of 3 consecutive undefeated district championships that included back to back state titles and a region qualifier showing.?

In all the Lady Kats had 12 players singled out with 3 of those receiving superlative awards for a total of 15 different honors including MVP and both Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year. Seniors LadyKats led the list with five placements followed by two juniors and five?

sophomores. Patrick Hughes served as head coach of the LadyKats this year. Hughes teaches for the District Alternative Education Program.
