Lady Kats 2-0 with showdown on Tuesday

Last week against Alvarado and playing well the Kats won in three matches 25-13, 25-19, 25-9
 
Offensively, Junior Maggie Pyles led the team in kills with 12 followed by Darby Smith (Jr) and Bethany Klinkenburg (So) with 5 each. Pyles also led in aces with 5 followed by Kendell Vondra (Jr) with 4 and Kylie Foster (Jr) with 2. Foster (Jr) had 19 assist for the game.
 
Defensively, Raeley Crosley (Fr) had 4 blocks and Shelby Flowers (Sr) had 3. Danielle Hedglin (Sr) led the team in digs with 16 digs followed by Smith with 13 and Pyles with 12. Hedglin also returned 19 serves successfully with 6 each for Pyles and Smith.
 
Friday night against Fort Worth Diamond Hill-Jarvis, the Kats won in three, 24-5, 25-10, 25-8.
 
In digs, Pyles had 9, Klinkenburg 6, Flowers 5, Crosley 5 and Emma Riffe (So) 3. Aces were made by Smith (6) with Vondra, Pyles and Crosley at 3 each. Foster had 16 assist, 9 by Vondra and 4 by Klinkenburg.
 
Two blocks were made by Jasmine Alli (So) with Flowers and Crosley at 1 each. Hedglin led the team in digs with 12 followed by Pyles 6, Vondra and Crosley 4 each, Foster and Smith 3 each and Ashley Jones (Sr) with 2. Heglin had 8 serving saves, 5 by Pyles and 3 by Sabrina Allen (Sr).
 
This sets up an early season showdown between Kennedale and Godley who is a traditional strong in volleyball. Both teams are 2-0 and will be battling to be the established leader in district.
According to the Cleburne Times Review, prior to the season, Godley Coach Todd Weese said this year?s version of the Lady Cats could be the best team he?s coached in his 12 years in Godley. Godley is currently ranked 17 in Class 4A.
Godley swept Alvarado Friday night winning 3-0.
 
The game is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Godley.
