Going into the game Tuesday night, little was certain for the Kennedale Lady Kats (17-5-1). They knew that they were definitely in the playoffs again this year, beyond that it was unclear. Would they be in 1st place or be in a tie for 2nd place? Would they have to play another game to determine their place? {{more}}

Kennedale had swept the first half of District 15-4A play going undefeated but they ran into some trouble in the 2nd half losing 3 games. The Lady Kats found themselves in 2nd place but with a chance for the title.
The game Tuesday night was against Alvarado and it was Senior Night. The team was honoring two seniors and their families, Lindsay Irby and Skylar Crowley. This was the last game of the regular season and the last district game, one that would help decide the district championship. Alvarado was not in the running but it could be a spoiler.
Regardless what happened on the field, the Lady Kats were once again going to the 4A soccer playoffs. (There is no 3A soccer but that will change next year when Texas establishes a separate classification for 3A teams like Kennedale).

When the nets finally cleared and the game ended for the night, the Lady Kats were a 10-0 winner over Alvarado. Not only did they win big but they learned that they were district champs. The other teams involved in the race to the top had a tie game, throwing those teams in a contest for second and leaving the Kats in sole possession of 1st place. This was a first for any Kennedale soccer team ? a district title and in Class 4A.
They don?t know their opponent yet or when or where they will play their first playoff game. They know that they will be up against some to best in the area. But, that is okay with the Kats, whomever they play, they will let them know that while they maybe just a small 3A team, they play big.
