The #9 Kennedale Lady Kats basketball team has moved to 9-1 with two victories on the opening day of the Kennedale Basketball Tournament this week. {{more}}
Just before Thanksgiving, the Kats beat Grandview 67-52. Grandview is #9 in the latest TABC 3A poll. In that game Jazmyn Poe posted a season high 26 points.
Kennedale followed that win by beating 5A Granbury 64-58. There were 4 players in double figures; Jazmyn Poe (24 pts), Lucy Benson (11pts), Brenee Ellis (10 pts) and Kat Mosley (10 pts).
This week Kennedale opened its own tournament by beating Lake Worth 49-20 and then beat 4A Midland Greenwood 51-50.
Friday morning at 9:30, Kennedale will play 6A Keller Central which will end pool play for Kennedale. Regular tournament play will continue Friday afternoon and evening.
In the second pool are teams from 6A Coppell, 5A Saginaw, 4A Lubbock Estacado and 3A Nacogdoches Central Heights.
Final rounds are scheduled for Saturday.
