Lady Kats slam Vernon in first playoff game

Kats jump on Vernon early, coast to 13-0 win

A two-run single by Ciara Trotter, a two-run double by Carson Whatley, an RBI single by Maegan Garza, an RBI triple by Rebekah Abair, an RBI double by Alexa Neifert, an RBI single by Aubrey Wooden, a three-run triple by Alicia Lopez, and an RBI single by Carson in the first inning and a sacrifice fly by Jazlyn Crowder during the second inning fueled Kennedale’s offense early.

Alicia racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Lady Kats.

Kennedale’s Elizabeth Schiele kept Vernon off the scoreboard for all five innings she was on the rubber. She pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on two hits while striking out five.

The Kats pounded Vernon pitching, as seven hitters combined for 12 hits, 11 RBIs and 10 runs scored.

 

Next up for the Kennedale is Lampasas 7 p.m. Thursday night in Waco. UIL

Softball playoff brackets

The Dallas Morning News labeled Kennedale as a team to watch in the playoffs. “The state?s second-ranked 3A team has been a regional finalist each of the last two years. Allie Turner is 14-4 with a 1.24 ERA, and she has averaged 14 strikeouts per seven innings. Jazlyn Crowder is hitting .464 and is among the area leaders in RBIs with 42.”
