Kats have another chance tonight in best of three series
The Kennedale Lady Kat Softball team (22-7) went into the game favorites against Lampasas and pulled no punches in the first inning taking the lead 5-2 and knocking out Lampasas? ace.
The Lady Kats scored on a two-run double by Jazlyn Crowder, an RBI double by Ciara Trotter, and a two-run double by Maegan Garza. {{more}}Kennedale added what seemed insurance runs in the second and the 4th, keeping the Kats ahead at 7-4.
In the second both Crowder and Trotter reached on singles and Crowder scored on a ground out by Lopez. In the fourth things started out well with a triple by Wooden followed by a Schiele walk. A groundout (Crowder) double play scored Wooden but cleared the bases. Next batter up (Trotter) flied out.
It was the sixth for Lampasas, scoring 5 runs that Kennedale had no answer for the rest of the game, putting away the game at 9-7. Kennedale left two on the bases in the 6th and one in the 7th.
Kennedale now has to win the next two games to advance. Game time tonight (Friday) is 7 p.m. in Waco. The 3rd and final game is Saturday morning in Waco at 9:30 a.m.
