Following Chief Mike McMurray?s recent retirement announcement, City Manager George Campbell has announced his selection of C-Shift Lieutenant, Brian King, to fill the soon-to-be vacant role. {{more: continue …}}King will step into the role on an interim basis as City administration begins its search for a permanent replacement.
?Recruiting such a key public safety official can be a lengthy process, but we are hopeful that a candidate will be identified within the next 90 to 120 days,? said Campbell. ?In the meantime, I appreciate that we have very capable leaders and managers in the Fire Department and that Lieutenant King is willing to serve the community during this transition period.?

Lieutenant King joined the Kennedale Fire Department as a Firefighter/EMT in July of 2009, working his way up in rank to Lieutenant in 2013. Before coming to Kennedale, King served as a Fire Lieutenant in Fallujah, Iraq and served his country as a United States Marine.

Chief McMurray?s last day in the office is Friday, May 11, Lieutenant King?s first day in the office is Monday, May 14, and Driver/Engineer Ryan Florence will be acting Lieutenant of C-Shift during King?s service as interim Fire Chief.?(Press Release from the City of Kennedale 5/10/2018)
