MaryAnn Groff, 71, who dearly loved God, her husband, her family and her friends, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018, after a short illness. {{more: continue …}}?FUNERAL MASS: 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church by Father James Gigliotti. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church. Rosary: 7 p.m.?MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, a Mass would be appreciated, or a donation made in MaryAnn’s name to a charity, such as the America Cancer Society, would be cherished as well.?MaryAnn was born at St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee, Ill., on Dec. 10, 1946; she was the daughter to Lawrence Dionne and Lena Dionne (nee Detaux) and the youngest of five children. MaryAnn graduated from St. Joseph Seminary High School in 1964, then attended St. Mary’s School of Nursing where she earned her LVN in 1965, and proceeded to have a productive and fulfilling 47-year career as a nurse.?On Sept. 3, 1966, MaryAnn married the love of her life, Richard Groff of Kankakee, Ill. In the course of their 52-year marriage, they raised three loving sons, lived in Illinois, Alabama, and Texas, and enjoyed traveling across America. In addition to her family, MaryAnn was a member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, where she was active in that spiritual community for over 20 years.?MaryAnn was preceded by, and will be reunited with, her sister, Marlene Boudreau, and her brother, Ronald Dionne.?SURVIVORS: MaryAnn is survived by her husband, Richard Groff of Arlington, Texas; sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Cathy Groff of Murphy, Texas, Doug and Lynne Groff of Kennedale, Texas, Matthew and Deborah Groff of New York, N.Y.; grandchildren, Alex, Katie, Caitlyn, Josh, Emily, and Kistla; brother, Father Rene Dionne of the Missionaries of Africa stationed in Madrid, Spain; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Arnold Joubert of Kankakee, Ill.; and sister-in-law, Diana Dionne of Irving, Texas.??
