The Tarrant County program was started in 1973 and has served more than 15 million meals since. It goal is to promote the dignity and independence of older adults, persons with disabilities, and other homebound persons by delivering nutritious meals and providing or coordinating needed services.

The target demographics are homebound elderly and disabled people in Tarrant County who are unable to prepare meals for themselves and who have no one to do so for them.
The Meals on Wheels program serves approximately 4,000 adults a year.
