No Wildcat football tonight & another poll puts Cats in top ten

High School football for most schools kicks off this weekend except for Kennedale. The Wildcats ended up with a bye for the first week of play. {{more: Read more …}}

 

It is rare. It is so rare, that Kennedale head coach Richard Barrett said that it has never happened to him in 38 years of coaching.

 

Today is a check of the polls and tomorrow, we will look at the pre-district schedule.

Ranked in the upper echelons of Class 4A ?

 

#4 .. First, the Harris High School Ratings (Harris Weekly Ratings) are out this week and Kennedale sits at #4 in Class 4A Division I. The top ten are #1 La Vega, #2 Navasota, #3 Argyle, # 4 Kennedale, #5 Carthage, #6 Liberty-Eylau, #7 Abilene Wylie, #8 China Spring, #9 Liberty Hill and #10 Terrell.

If you haven?t realized that Kennedale is a state power, here is a look at this year?s polls so far:

#3 .. MaxPreps power ratings for 4A DI (MaxPreps) is #1 La Vega, #2 Argyle, #3 Kennedale, #4 Center, #5 China Springs, #6 Terrell, #7 Carthage, #8 Stafford, #9 Henderson and #10 Kilgore. It is also interesting to note that statewide including all division, Kennedale is ranked #36.

 

#1 .. Lone Star Gridiron (lonestargridiron.com) has the top ten ranked starting with #1 Kennedale followed by #2 Argyle, #3 China Springs, #4 Texarkana Liberty-Eylau, #5 Waco La Vega,#6 Navasota, #7 Carthage,#8 Abilene Wylie, #9 Kaufman and #10 Stafford.

#4 .. Friday Night Football?s top ten (FNFmagazine) in Class 4A Division I are #1 Argyle, #2 Waco La Vega, No. 3 Wylie, #4 Kennedale, #5 China Spring, #6 Brownwood, #7 Carthage, #8 Texarkana Liberty-Eylau, #9 Liberty Hill and #10 Mineral Wells.

#8 .. Dave Campbell?s Texas Football (Rankings) has the top ten as #1 Argyle, #2 Navasota, #3 Carthage, #4 Liberty-Eylua, #5 Abilene Wylie, #6 Waco La Vega, #7 Liberty Hill, #8 Kennedale, #9 China Springs and #10 Terrell.

 

#10 .. The AP Poll has both DI and DII ranked together in Class 4A with #1 Argyle, # 2 West Orange Stark, #3 Waco La Vega, #4 Navasota, #5 Carthage, #6 Gilmer, #7 Celina, #8 Abilene Wylie, Texarkana Liberty Eylua and #10 Kennedale. If you were to take out the 4A DII teams the poll would read Argyle, La Vega, Navasota, Carthage, Abilene Wylie, Liberty Eylua, Kennedale, Liberty Hill, China Springs and LaGrange.

This means the top ten ranked Cats from Kennedale have a lot to prove this season, but if the past is any indication, Barrett?s team will step it up.

 

Kennedale will play Terrell next Friday night at home with game time at 7:30 p.m.
