After last week big win over Alvarado 1-0, the Cats had high hopes going into the area game against Gainesville. But, for the Wildcats, who had set records this year with most wins in a season and also as an area playoff qualifier, it was a tough 2-1 loss to Gainesville that ended the season.

For Kennedale coach Heath Wakeland, it was disappointing but all the same he was extremely proud of the team and of the season. He pointed to the scoring play for Kennedale, saying that it showed what the team was capable of doing. Calling it a run down field, the scoring drive included nearly 30 passes or what Wakeland said was like ?playing cat and mouse with the ball.? It worked as the Wildcats got past one Gainesville player after another and scored on a Kevin Tiero kick with an assist by Logan Fucile.

Wakeland said that he and the program will miss the 10 seniors, several who were him the last three years as the program has steadily improved. “We have a solid foundation now,” said Wakeland. Adding, “They help build it.”

The Wildcats finished the season with 17 wins, 7 losses and 6 ties and with new goals for next year.
