For the past three weeks we have been discussing “Making Disciples For Jesus Christ”. But before we can Make Disciples we must first be “A Disciple”. This week we’ll look at being a Witness. {{more: continue …}}

Disciple As Witness …
?
John gives us another picture of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. This time it comes in Jesus’ commission to his disciples, when he says of his disciples, ?As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you? (John 20:21; see also John 17:18). This means that as a disciple of Jesus, we are on a mission. It means that we are to be missionaries, that they are empowered to step into this world as his witnesses (Acts 1:8).
?
Jesus was sent for a purpose ? to reveal God and redeem sinners (John 1:14, 12) ? and he set his face and goal to see it accomplished (Luke 9:51; Isaiah 50:7). We too, as his disciples, filled by his Spirit, are sent for a purpose ? to tell his good news (Romans 10:14?17).
?

To be a disciple of Jesus Christ means to tell the old, old story of Jesus and his love so that others would know him and worship him. To be a disciple of Jesus means to point people to him. It means, in other words, that we gladly seek more worshipers-servants-missionaries. Which is to say, a disciple of Jesus makes disciples of Jesus, as Jesus tells us to (Matthew 28:18?20). When Jesus speaks we must listen.

We as Christians have been commissioned by Jesus Christ to testify to the following.
?
The Gospel …
?
?For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures? (1 Corinthians 15:3-4 NIV).
?

The Love of God …

?
?For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life? (John 3:16, NKJV).
?
The Forgiveness of God …
?

?[God] commanded us ? to testify that it is [Christ] who was ordained by God to be Judge of the living and the dead. To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins? (Acts 10:42, 43, NKJV).

?
Have you witnessed to someone about your faith in Jesus Christ? Have you invited anyone to church? Have you ever won any one to Christ? Think about it.
?
If your answers are No, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?
?
See you on Sunday!

?
“I don’t know how, but I know WHO!”

Peace,

Pastor Nelda
