The Kennedale Police Department reported the following incidents for the first two weeks of February, 2016. These reports were in addition to on-going investigations. These do not include calls where no report was written. Some of the offenses, after further investigation, may have been deemed unfounded. {{more:[Read more]}}

02/01 – Forgery – 300 block of W. Kennedale Parkway: At 8:16 a.m. a victim reported that an unknown male had passed two fraudulent checks in the victim’s business. The suspect presented store personnel with a paper identification that subsequently turned out to be false. Two checks valued at a total of $786.98 were passed. The bank rejected the checks for being altered. The suspect was captured on video passing the checks.

02/01 – Theft $750 to $2,500 – 800 block of Trent Street: At 12:36 p.m. a victim reported to police that a trailer was stolen from his business. The trailer was secured with a lock and was valued at $1,500.00.

02/01 – DWI – 4900 block of Kennedale Sublett Road: At 5:00 p.m. an officer stopped a vehicle for a DWI investigation. The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed and weaving from lane to lane. The 61 year old male driver refused to pull over for the police unit until forced to stop at a traffic light at U.S. 287. The driver, who smelled strongly of alcoholic beverage, was escorted from the vehicle by the officer. A field sobriety assessment was conducted but the driver was too intoxicated to complete the tasks. He was arrested and transported to the Mansfield jail where a breath test was administered. A result of 0.175 was obtained and the suspect was booked into jail without incident.

02/01 – Burglary – Danny Drive: At 7:55 p.m. a victim reported that person(s) unknown had forced entry into his home and removed his 40″ television. Entry was made through a back door of the residence. The offense occurred between 9:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. that same day. Door damage was estimated at $200.00 and the value of the television was placed at $500.00.

02/02 – Theft $100 to $750 – 800 block of Mansfield Cardinal Road: At 8:01 p.m. a victim reported that his I Pad 2 was taken from his residence. The theft occurred on 12-27-2015 while a female acquaintance was present at the home. The victim discovered the theft later. The item is valued at $250.00.

02/03 – Abandoned/Found Property – 800 block of W. Kennedale Parkway: At 4:27 p.m. officers were dispatched to assist the fire department on a trash fire. While at the scene officers located a checkbook in the dirt. The item appeared to be weathered and to have been at the location for some time. The checkbook was placed in evidence for safekeeping until the owner can be located.

02/03 – Assault Bodily Injury (Family Violence) – North Road: At 9:09 p.m. officers responded to a domestic disturbance. The call came from a third party not on the scene. On arrival officers met with a 34 year old male and a 31 year old female. The female claimed to have been assaulted the day before by the male during an argument. The female did exhibit a mark on her temple but due to the time frame involved the male was not arrested at the scene. The suspect is not a resident at the home where the female is staying and was issued a criminal trespass warning not to return. He left the scene. The case remains open.

02/06 – Theft Under $100 – 1200 block of W. Kennedale Parkway: At 3:59 p.m. a victim reported that $58.02 was taken from her person by an unknown female. The victim, an elderly female, was trying to get into her vehicle when the suspect came up to her and offered to assist. During this time, the suspect allegedly unzipped the victim’s coat pocket and removed the money, which was in an envelope. The suspect was caught on video but had left the area before officers arrived. Later the suspect returned to the property and officers were called. The suspect was a passenger in a vehicle leaving the scene as officers arrived. The suspect was still wearing the same clothes as in the video although she denied being on the property that day. The suspect used a Texas Offender card as identification. After being interviewed at the scene, the suspect was released pending further investigation.

02/07 – Investigation – 300 block of Linda Road: At 6:35 p.m. an officer observed a vehicle being operated with no rear license plate. Upon stopping the vehicle, it was discovered that both of the male occupants had active arrest warrants from multiple jurisdictions. They were taken into custody and transported to jail for booking. Officers also located several credit cards and a banking instrument that did not belong to either subject. These items were seized to be held until the owner can be contacted. They were placed in property/evidence for safekeeping.

02/08 – Assault Bodily Injury (Family Violence) – Woodland Court: At 3:30 p.m. officers responded to a domestic disturbance. A 30 year old male and a 46 year old female were in a vehicle and began arguing. The male and female live together in the same residence. As the female, who was driving, attempted to get the intoxicated male home, he began striking her in the face and head. She was able to get him to stop hitting her and drove to the residence, where she called for police. The female exhibited marks consistent with the assault she reported. The male was arrested and transported to jail for booking.

02/10 – Interference with Child Custody – Tealpond Drive: At 10:48 a.m. officers responded to a disturbance. The reporting person stated that her 29 year old daughter (suspect) had come to the home earlier and removed the suspect’s biological child. The parental rights for the suspect had been terminated by CPS right after the child was born in 2015. Neither the child nor the suspect were on scene when officers arrived.

02/11 – Abandoned Vehicle – 5400 block of Kennedale Street: At 8:57 p.m. an officer responded to an abandoned vehicle in the roadway. The vehicle was left in a traffic lane with the driver side window broken out, the ignition punched out, and the radio missing from the dash. No owner was present or could be contacted. The vehicle was impounded for safe keeping.

02/12 – Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – 1100 block of E. Kennedale Parkway: At 12:28 a.m. an officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. During the interview, the driver was found to be in possession of marijuana paraphernalia. The evidence was seized and the driver cited for the contraband.

02/13 – Vehicle Burglary – Oakwood Lane: At 2:00 p.m. a victim reported that unknown person(s) entered his vehicle and removed the stereo radio from the dash. The unlocked vehicle was parked overnight in the driveway.
