Police report a number of burglaries and one homcide

Police Department was kept busy the last two weeks investigating theft/burglaries and one homicide. The following are the incident reports for the the weeks January 4 – 17, 2015. {{more}}

01/05 – Abandoned/Found Property – 400 block of Municipal Drive: At 3:22 p.m. a business owner brought in a rifle that was found on the owner’s property. The rifle’s owner was traced to another city. The rifle was placed in property for safekeeping until the owner can be contacted.

01/05 – Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – 200 block of S. New Hope Road: At 7:32 p.m. an officer observed a vehicle parked in an unlit area of Sonora Park. The occupants of the vehicle, a juvenile male and female, were parked and talking. The officer observed both tobacco and drug paraphernalia in plain view inside of the vehicle. The driver was cited for the violations and parents were called for both.

01/06 – Theft $1,500 to $20,000 – 400 block of North Road: At 11:50 a.m. an officer responded to a report of a stolen utility trailer. Person(s) unknown cut a lock on the gate securing the property and entered. Trailer and contents were valued at $2,850.00. Bolt cutters used to cut the padlock were left at the scene. They were fingerprinted to assist in identifying the suspect(s).

01/08 – Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 7000 block of E. Kennedale Parkway: At 5:08 p.m. an officer responded to a towing company lot to recover a stolen vehicle. The vehicle, a black Honda 4 door, was reported stolen out of Fort Worth. The vehicle registers out of Keller, Texas.

01/09 – Theft $1,500 to $20,000 – 400 block of Fountain Court: At 10:47 a.m. an officer took a report of a stolen utility trailer. The trailer was removed from a construction site by two males in a pick-up. The males were actually confronted by a homeowner who complained to them about his yard being damaged by them. They stated that they would return to repair the damage but had to take the trailer to a job site first. The theft was captured on a homeowner’s video system and is being copied for investigators.

01/10 – Burglary of Coin Operated Machine – 700 block of W. Kennedale Parkway: At 6:30 p.m. a victim reported that attempts were made to burglarize several coin-operated machines inside the business. The attempts were made during business hours and the clerk saw the suspects acting suspiciously. They were ordered to leave the store but would not comply until police were called. The suspects, two males and a female, left in a black Mazda before officers arrived. The suspects were caught on video and the footage has been made available to police. Fingerprints were also taken at the scene.

01/12 – Homicide – 6300 block of Treepoint Drive: At 4:08 p.m. officers received a call of shots fired in the 6300 block of Treepoint Drive. The caller stated that multiple suspects, possibly males, had fired several shots and fled the scene. On arrival, officers discovered a deceased 18 year old male laying in the street. Multiple witnesses were present and several were identified for interviewing later. The case is still under investigation.

01/13 – Burglary – 800 block of W. Kennedale Parkway: At 12:30 p.m. officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle driving into an undeveloped area. On investigation, the officers discovered a 28 year old male had driven a vehicle into a vacant commercial property and was dismantling a steel table for removal. The male was detained while the property owner was contacted. The owner did not give the male permission to be on property and wanted to prosecute. The suspect was transported to jail for booking.

01/13 – Burglary – 3800 block of New Hope Road: At 4:26 p.m. a victim reported that a storage building on his commercial property was illegally entered. Person(s) unknown removed an extended cab truck and a portable water tank.

01/14 – Burglary – 6700 block of Hudson Village Creek Road: At 9:40 a.m. a victim reported that a storage unit was illegally entered on his commercial property. This offense may be related to the offense on New Hope Road on 01/13/2015.

01/14 – Burglary – 6500 block of Hudson Village Creek Road: At 3:01 p.m. a victim reported that her home was illegally entered. Several items were disturbed but nothing was reported missing.

01/15 – Burglary – 400 block of Bolen Road: At 5:22 p.m. a victim reported to officers that eight saddles were removed from a barn on her property. The saddles were valued at $3,400.00.

01/16 – Theft $50 to $500 – 7000 block of E. Kennedale Parkway: At 12:30 p.m. a victim reported that a male suspect entered his business and loaded up a number of used auto parts valued at $155.00. The suspect left without paying for the parts. A vehicle description and license plate were given to the investigating officer.

01/16 – Burglary – 400 block of Sunrise Drive: At 2:30 p.m. a victim reported that person(s) unknown entered a home site under construction and removed approximately $800.00 in copper tubing.

01/17 – Abandoned Vehicle – 5600 block of E. I-20: At 10:00 a.m. an officer towed an abandoned vehicle from the roadway shoulder. The vehicle had been tagged three days earlier with a warning to remove. The vehicle was towed until the owner can be notified.

01/17 – Theft $1,500 to $20,000 – 100 block of Oakwood: At 12:29 a.m. a victim reported to police that the rims and tires on her 2014 Chevrolet pick-up were stolen. The theft occurred overnight while the vehicle was parked in her driveway. The value was placed at $2,000.00.
