Good evening, everyone, and welcome to the Kennedale High School Class of 2017 graduation. Before I get all sentimental, I would like to thank you all for coming out to support these graduates. I know some of you have traveled very far to be here, and we are so glad you are here to celebrate with us.
I remember when I first walked into the doors of Arthur in the middle of my fifth-grade year. I was scared out of my mind, being in such a new and overwhelming environment. I spent most of my time at Arthur being the quiet, nerdy kid who was really awkward and was too scared to talk to girls. You know, now that I think about it, not all that much has changed.
I am so grateful for my parents, siblings, friends …
Little did I know back then, that by walking through those doors I was beginning a journey that has ultimately led to this moment. Along that journey, I have grown both mentally and physically, made lifelong friends, and learned so much about not only school related things, but about life and love and all the rest of those awkward things that teenagers have to learn about, usually the ?hard way?. I am so grateful for my parents, as well as my siblings, friends, and the rest of my family, who all have given me unconditional love and support throughout my whole life. I would be nowhere without their positive influence and guidance.
My journey, while unique and personal to me, is just a small part of a larger and greater story that has been being written for the past thirteen years. We all have had different experiences, but we all still share something in common. Whoever you are, whatever you?ve done, wherever you?ve been, if you?re sitting here right now, graduates, you are a wildcat. And being a wildcat is something you should wear proudly as you move on to the next chapter of your life.State medalists, musicians, artists and scholars …
Among us are state medalist athletes, published musicians, amazing artists, and outstanding scholars, just to name a few. As much as we have accomplished in the past four years, I know it is nothing compared to what we will collectively achieve in the future. I did a little research, and the name for a group of wildcats is a destruction of wildcats. That?s a real thing. And I think that name is so fitting for this group of incredible individuals, because we are going to take the world by storm and make our dreams reality, not letting anything stand in our way.The most important thing I would like for you all to remember is that high school isn?t just something that you had to survive and try to forget. The people sitting here around you are now your wildcat family. They are here for you and want to see you succeed. Kennedale is a place you can forever call home.
