Senior night for Wildcats & LadyKats Soccer today

The boys and girls Kennedale High School soccer programs will be playing Venus tonight, Friday 11, 2016, at Wildcat Stadium. It will be Senior Night for both teams as this is will be the last home game of the regular season. {{more:[Read more]}}
 
Ceremonies recognizing the senior players and their parent will be held between games the two games The girls game will start at 6 p.m. and the boys will follow at 8 p.m.

Kennedale LadyKats
 
Kennedale has wrapped up a playoff spot with two games left to play with a 17-2, 6-0 record in District 8-4A. Midlothian Heritage is in second place at 11-8-1, 5-2. Alvarado is 3rd (7-12, 3-3), Diamond Hill Jarvis (12-10-1, 2-5-0) is 4th and Venus (0-7-1, 0-6) is 5th. The top four teams will enter the playoffs.
 
3/4 @ Midlothian Heritage (W) 12-0
 
The LadyKats travelled to Midlothian to take on the second place Heritage Lady Jaguars and returned with a 12-0 victory. The Kats scored 5 times in the first half and picked up 7 in the second. Allie Thornton (Sr) scored 6 times to lead all scorers. Thornton finished the night with 6 goals, 1 assist and 11 shots on goal. Abby Olmos (Sr) had 3 goals with 3 assist and had 7 shots on goal. Lauren Otts (Sr) scored 1 goal with 4 shots on goal. Baylee Gow (Jr) scored once with 2 shots on goal. Cara Hunt (Jr) scored one goal with one shot on goal and recorded one assist. Marisa Echtle (So) had one assist. Eryka Mcintyre (Fr) had 2 assist and 4 shots on goal. Daphne Hunt (So) had 1 shot on goal along with Emmy Hamilton (Jr). Goalkeeper S. Isela Calzada (Jr) ended the game with 3 saves. This is the LadyKats 12 shutout out of 17 games this season. Abby Olmos (Sr) was selected as the MaxPreps Player of the Game for Kennedale.
 
3/8 @ Alvarado (W) 8-0
 
Alvarado scored one goal in the first half by Sydney Summers (Jr) to do what most team playing Kennedale do not do. Kennedale match that with 4 goals and then added 4 more in the second half to take the 8-1 win. LadyKat Eryka Mcintyre (Fr) led all scorers with 3 goals with 7 shots on goal and recorded 1 assist. Baylee Gow (Jr) had 2 goals with 2 shots on goal, Cara Hunt (Jr) had 1 goal with 2 SOG and recorded 3 assist. Megan Jakubisin (So) scored 1 on 1 SOG, Bailey Crowley (So) scored once with 1 SOG. Lauren Otts (Sr) had 1 assist. Allie Thornton (Sr) had 1 assist and 1 SOG. Sara Calzada (Jr) defended 4 shots on goal allowing 1. Eryka Mcintyre (Fr) was selected as the MaxPreps Player of the Game for Kennedale.
 
After tonight?s game against Venus, the LadyKats will travel to FTW Diamond Hill for the final district game of the season next Monday, March 14 at 11 a.m. before taking their spring break. The Cats will return to play at 5A Grapevine (13-5-3, 9-1) in a playoff warm-up game on Monday, March 21 with time to be determined. Tournament play will begin March 24.
 
Kennedale Wildcats
 
The Kennedale Wildcat Soccer team is currently fighting for a 4th place finish in District 8-4A and playing for a playoff spot. Tonight?s game against Venus will help determine the standings. Kennedale (2-13-5, 1-4-3). The Cats have not had success finding the net this season but have played well enough on defense losing only one game by 3 and the others just by 2.

Update district games …
 
2/9 @ Keene (L) 3-0 After digging a 3-0 hole in the first half the Wildcats put major pressure on Keene and only allowed 1 shot against but to no avail.
 
2/16 @ Midlothian Heritage (T) 2-2 Wildcats went up quickly on Heritage 2-0 but the Jaguars answered with 2 of their own in the first period. It was scoreless in the second to end 2-2.
 
2/19 Alvarado (W) 2-1 Down 1-0 and playing short due to a red card, the Cats dug deep and kicked in scoring 2 to take the win.
 
2/23 @ Venus (T) 0-0
 
2/26 Diamond Hill-Jarvis (L) 2-0 Hosting the district leading Eagles, the Cats had a tough loss, losing 2-0. Cats had what looked like sure goals but their keeper stole them away. Hats off to the him.
 
3/1 Keene Smith (T) 1-1 KHS Wildcats boys played well but after a score by TJ Davis Cats went blank tying Keene 1-1
 
3/4 @Midlothian Heritage (L) 2-0
 
3/8 @ Alvarado (L) 2-1 The Cats played well tactically but couldn’t finish. Jared Birr (Sr) scored the Cats one goal.
 
After tonight’s game the Wildcats will finish regular season play @ FTW Diamond Hill on monday March 14 with a game time of 7:30 p.m.
